HOME CLUB / OUT OF CLUB SKATING POLICY

2024-2025

HOME CLUB SKATER DEFINITION:

NSSC skaters must book at least 3 to 5 on-ice sessions (depending on their level program requirements and Long Term Athlete Development) per week at the club to register through Skate Canada as a NSSC Home Club member if they wish to be eligible to take Skate Canada tests and/or represent the club at Skate Canada sanctioned competitions.

 A skater must have a NSSC Home Club coach.

OUT OF CLUB SKATER DEFINITION:

All Out of Club skaters must be registered with Skate Canada in order to skate on NSSC ice. 

 

HOME CLUB SKATERS 

The retention and growth of the Skater Home Club membership is a priority for the

NSSC Board of Directors. Home Club Skaters need to comply with the following policy:

 

Home Club Skaters that wish to skate at other clubs for additional on-ice training

may apply as follows for Board approval:

 

1.     A formal written request to be able to skate on another club's ice shall be submitted to the Board of Directors

2.     The request should detail the current NSSC sessions undertaken by the member and inform the Board why additional on-ice time is required at an alternative facility.

3.     Members are not to receive any form of coaching from another club while skating.

4.     The request should be formally supported by the NSSC skater representative coach.

5.     The Board of Directors will review the request at the next Board meeting and inform the coach and member of their decision.

6.     The Board's decision shall be binding for the current skating year (i.e September to the following August).

7.     If approved, a formal letter shall be sent to the member to use, if necessary, to secure ice at another club

 

SPECIAL NOTE:

If a skater wishes to use on-ice lessons from another club the following minimum requirements shall be required:

The NSSC Skater representative coach shall confirm in writing to the Board that

no conflict of interest exists in the case of the specific member(s) between the

NSSC private coach approach and the approach used by the coach at the "other

club"

OUT OF CLUB SKATERS

 

After the start of any skating season, after the NSSC Home Club Members have finalized their skating sessions for the season NSSC will open any remaining available sessions to Out of Club Skaters.

Out of Club Skaters must present a letter from their home skating club confirming they are allowed to use ice-time at other clubs.

Out of Club skaters must sign acknowledgment of the club rules and skater code of conduct when registering.

The session fee will include the following:

1. Out of Club Skaters will be allowed to register for on-ice time only.

2. No lessons from any of the NSSC coaches shall be offered to Out of Club Skaters unless arranged by their Home Club coach and NSSC coach

3. The fees are payable at the beginning of the session in advance of skaters attending any skating sessions

4. No refund after 21 days start of program 

5. The NSSC coaches in charge has the authority to ask any skater to leave a session if they are not complying with club rules and/or our skater code of conduct.
