Volunteers are the foundation of both Skate Canada and North Surrey Skating Club. As a non-profit, volunteer-run organization, our programs, events, and daily operations depend on the dedication of parents, family members, and community volunteers. Their contributions help keep our programs accessible, affordable, and successful.
All families with private skaters registered in Private Open, Rising Star, Junior Group, Intermediate, Senior, and Diamond programs are encouraged to participate in the club's Volunteer Program. A variety of volunteer opportunities are available throughout the season, and no prior experience is necessary.
At registration, families must submit a completed Volunteer Commitment Form [link] and choose one of the following options:
1) Volunteer Commitment
Families choosing this commitment agree to complete the required volunteer hours outlined in Volunteer Commitment Chart. If the required hours are not completed by the end of the Spring season, the applicable Volunteer Commitment Fee will be invoiced.
2) Volunteer Opt-Out Fee
Families may choose to pay the applicable Volunteer Opt-Out fee at registration instead of completing volunteer hours. The fee is charged per skater, subject to the family maximum outlined in the Volunteer Commitment Chart.
Important: Registration is not considered complete until the Volunteer Commitment Form and the applicable cheque or Volunteer Opt-Out payment have been received. There is no partial volunteer or partial payment option.
